PT [Performance Trawler] Yachts were originally imported on the west coast during the early 1980s spreading in popularity to the east coast. They were built by two Taiwan manufactures, Cheer Men Marine and Taiwan Overseas Industries. They were one of the few Taiwan imports without a lot of teak exterior trim. Native Son is Cheer Men and sports a solid fiberglass John Norek designed hull with two staterooms and heads, and a full teak interior with galley down. She is very well maintained by knowledgeable owners. She is powered by twin Cummins diesels and is further equipped with an Onan generator, air conditioning and Racor fuel filters.
